Smyth won the 2005-2006 Volvo Ocean Race Grand Prix Series with his Tommy team — but it came down to the very last event in Rotterdam. The Tommy Hilfiger team has put in some great results in the eXtreme 40 class since, including twice winning the Centomiglia long-distance race. Now with sponsorship from the Dutch Delta Lloyd group, two-times Olympic silver medallist Randy Smyth and his crew of Mischa Heemskerk, main trimmer and tactician; jib trimmer Pim Nieuwenhuis and bowman Pieter Jan Postma, both recently back from the Olympic Games in Beijing, will be out to defend the title.
